THERE were large attendances at the Congregational Church on Sunday last, the special occasion being the Harvest Festival. A wealth of gifts enabled the ladies to decorate the church interior with their customary skill, a most attractive display being made. The Minister (Rev E S Spooner, BD) was the preacher morning and evening, and his seasonal discourses were followed with the closest interest.

Henley Fair was held on Thursday and continued until Saturday, but there was a considerable falling off in the “attractions”. Curiously enough, exactly 100 years ago, according to the files of the Reading Mercury, the fair was the smallest remembered for many years.
