EXPANSION plans by Tesco have been dealt a crushing blow by Henley Town Council. The store’s bid to lease additional land from the council was turned down this week when councillors agreed that they had to support traders in the town centre. Members of the council’s planning and resource committee, meeting on Tuesday, overwhelmingly agreed that it was time to “start feeling positive” about the town.

After several years of debate, controversial moves to install CCTV in Henley may have moved a step closer yesterday (Thursday). Members of South Oxfordshire District Council’s policy and resources committee were discussing whether to commission a study and evaluation of installing closed-circuit television in Henley.
