A STRING of stolen cars could give police the lead they need in tracking down the intruder who held a Nettlebed man at knife point at his home on Monday. Mr Leonard Brake arrived at Porthill Cottage, Nettlebed, at about 3.38pm on Monday to find a car parked in his drive. When he entered the front door he was confronted by a man brandishing a knife.

A bid by shopkeepers in Greys Road to have their rates bill cut has failed. The rates, it was claimed at a valuation panel hearing, were excessive and if they were not cut even more premises in the street would fall empty. The shop-owners feel it is unreasonable for them to have to be rated on the same scale as shops in more favourable streets.
