THE Sonning Common and Peppard A side remain perilously close to the Reading and District League Division 1 relegation zone after Philip Zeng’s treble helped Kingfisher C to a 6-4 win.
Zeng beat Sonning Common’s number one Gary Morgan 11-8, 11-7, 11-9 in his opener. The A team have a couple of key matches against fellow relegation strugglers in the coming weeks.
In Division 2 Sonning Common and Peppard B hit back from 2-0 down to beat Tidmarsh C 6-4 with a hat-trick from Simon Berry and one a piece from Brian Meheux and Nigel Maltby on his return from injury.
Berry and Meheux teamed up to win the vital doubles set 9-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-4 to keep the B team on course for a return to the top division.
A treble from Terry Hardie helped Tidmarsh D to an 8-2 win over struggling Sonning Common and Peppard F in Division 4, while Dave Aust and Mike Casserely trebles lifted Sonning Common and Peppard G up to third in Division 5 as they beat Sonning Sports B 9-1.
