SONNING Common and Peppard A assured themselves of the runners-up spot in Division 1 of the Reading and District League after winning 7-3 at Tidmarsh A, Ed Lush and Ian Cole with maximum.

The Sonning Common and Peppard C and D sides faced off with the D team claiming a 7-3 triumph to clinch a first win of the season, Simon Berry, Nigel Maltby and Brian Meheux all winning twice with Brian beating C team number one Danny Dockree 17-15, 11-8, 11-8.

The E team drew 5-5 with OLOP D in Division 3, Jim Warren beating James Smith 11-8, 11-4, 7-11, 6-11, 12-10. In Division 4 the F team’s promotion chances will go to the wire after Mike Casserely and Oliver Bonser doubles helped them to a 5-5 draw at champions Sonning Sports D. They now need just a draw in their final match to pip Springfield C.
