Berry’s maximum helps side to victory

SONNING Common and Peppard A recovered from their opening Reading and District League defeat to beat Our Lady Of Peace B 6-4 in a well-fought tussle last week.

Ed Lush starred with a maximum with Gary Morgan winning twice as well as the pair teaming up to win the doubles set.

In Division 2 Simon Berry’s maximum steered the B team to a 7-3 win at Sonning Sports B, Danny Dockree winning twice and Malcolm Gregory adding a single, Danny coming from 2-1 down to beat Brett Hastings 12-14, 14-12, 12-14, 11-2, 11-5 in the opening set.

The C team were beaten 9-1 by Kingfisher D, Jim Warren beating Ruben Hernandez 14-12, 2-11, 11-7, 11-9, while in Division 3 the D team lost 6-4 at Tilehurst Methodists, Oliver Bonser’s with a double while teammates Gerry Bacon and Graeme Streets picked up singles.

The E team were well beaten by a strong OLOP F side, Derek Wavell came closest to a win but lost out to Anish Shukul 12-10, 5-11, 7-11, 11-6, 2-11.
