SEVEN Kennylands gymnasts competed at Portsmouth Gymnastics Club where competitors from the South of England battled it out in the southern region bronze, silver, gold and FIG development finals.
The competition was tough, but the Kennylands girls showed class and determination holding their own at this prestigious event.
At the end of the event Kennylands’ Edie Hodges and Amber Wharton both qualified to represent the south region at the national finals next month. In the pre fig development, Bella Cooper finished 13th overall having finished eight on the vault — just 0.25 off first place — and sixth on the bars.
In the fig development three, Ava Uezzell finished fourth overall having finished fourth on the vault and bars and second on the beam and floor while Amelia Caffyn was third overall having finished fourth on the beam, third on bars, second on vault and first on the floor.
In the bronze section, Lillie Knights was 16th overall having finished ninth on the vault, eighth on the beam and fifth on the floor while Orla Hughes was eighth, having finished seventh on the vault and ninth on the beam. Wharton finished seventh overall in the silver category having finished sixth on the vault, fourth on the beam and third on the bars while Hodges was second overall having finished eighth on the vault and floor, fourth on the bars and first on the team.
