Kennylands gymnasts celebrate multiple end of year successes

SONNING Common gymnasts had a successful end of year at various competitions.

At the Oxfordshire county competition, Kennylands Gymnastics Club competed at the four-piece event where eight gymnasts qualified for the South regional finals.

Ava Uezzell was crowned champion in the figure development three category.

In the silver category, Amber Wharton was also crowned champion having finished first on vault, second on bars and beam and third on the floor. Edie Hodges was fourth overall with first place finish on both the beam and floor.

Lillie Knights was overall champion in the bronze category having finished first on the floor and third on both bars and beam while Orla Hughes had second place finish on the vault and floor.

In the copper category, Sienna Cotton was third on the vault, Hollie Mackin second on floor and third on bars, Naomi Haines second on the floor, Natalia Wojciechowska second on bars and third on beam and third overall, McBurney fifth on the floor, Melia Drummond sixth overall and Darcy Rawson second on the beam.

Erum Ullah was champion in the zinc category having finished first on the floor and second on the value. Madi Lewendon was runner-up with a second place finish on the floor and third on the beam while Sienna Rubio was third having finished first on the beam and second on both the bars and floor.

In the brass category, Daisie-Marie Phillips, Isabella Alvarez and Malaika Oji all competed new skills. Elsewhere Zoe Steiner was sixth on the vault and there were second place finishes on the beam and vault for Kaite Towers and Sawako Etherington respectively.

Amy Evans was second overall in the tin category having finished second on the beam and third on the floor. Autumn Walters took third place with a first spot finish on the beam. Elsewhere, Saren Woodward was sixth on the floor, Ivy Staljan sixth on the vault and Isla Harwood second on the bars. Rubio, Ullah, Lewendon, Drummond, Rawson, Jones, Wojciechowska and Haines then all competed in the South regional finals for zinc and copper categories.

Standout results saw Jones finish second on the vault, Wojciechowska second on the beam and Haines fourth overall.

Hodges and Wharton both represented Team South at the national finals in Guildford. Highlight of the day saw Hodges competing her toe on toe off on bars and vault.

Lastly Uezzell and Amelia Caffyn completed their final competition on the elite pathway, the figure development three national finals, and have both qualified for the British Championships this year. Amelia finished third in Great Britain for the combined national excel and figure development three competition.
