PREMIER Division league leaders WARGRAVE ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at home to READING YMCA last Saturday.
Sam Wild made put the hosts’ 1-0 up after a good solo run and finish. Wild added his second later in the first half from a Joe Wigmore assist.
Wild completed his hat-trick in the second half before substitute Fred Kirby came on to add the fourth goal.
Elsewhere in the division, HENLEY TOWN came a goal behind to secure a point in a
1-1 draw at GORING UNITED in a scrappy encounter on a pitch that made good football very difficult.
In an even affair, Goring shaded the first half while Henley came into their own after half-time.
Defences were well on top until the 30th minute when Chris Pocock played a 35-yard crossfield pass that Sully Akers, coming in from the opposite wing, controlled instantly before slotting home from a difficult angle for the hosts.
Goring opened the second half brightly and thought they had extended the lead, only for Akers’s effort to be ruled out for offside.
Harry Voice then outmuscled the Henley defence before scoring from 12 yards but this goal was also ruled out by the referee.
Henley began to get on top and with 15 minutes remaining a free kick from the right hand side was headed home at the far post by Ethan Pearce.
Both sides tried hard to secure a winning goal, the nearest being when Goring’s Ed Ardill chipped the ball over the keeper before just clearing the crossbar.
In Reserve Division 1, HENLEY TOWN DEVELOPMENT crashed to an 11-0 thrashing at BINFIELD DEVELOPMENT U23s. The home side raced into a 7-0 half-time lead before adding four goals in the second half.
